STARR Leadership Academy was created September 28, 2017 by Brenda Oliver-Lane. The academy was created to create opportunities to empower and educate women and children in the greater Baltimore area. The project was paused for a few years but we are now back and ready to go! The relaunch kicked off is June 2021 with a virtual event so all the members could meet safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mission Statement
STARR Leadership Academy (SLA) for women and girls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building equity and inclusion for women and girls (9-17). SLA supports residents in Baltimore County and the surrounding areas in a compassionate and understanding environment that will afford all the opportunity to succeed in life. The membership will develop and implement educational programs related to mentoring, leadership, self-esteem, parenting, financial literacy, careers, science, technology, engineering, art and math awareness (STEAM) and other career programs as needed.
